    The Orbital Jumper is a striped, two-textured jumper with an oversized, cropped body and raglan balloon-shaped sleeves. It is knitted in the round in one piece. This pattern is great for all levels of knitters, from beginners to advanced knitters.

    Skill Level: Confident Beginner

    Required Techniques: Cast on, bind off, knitting in the round, twisted rib stitch, stockinette, increasing, decreasing and picking up stitches.

    The Orbital Jumper is designed to be oversized with a positive ease of 15-20cm/6-8” at the chest. The measurements for the finished top can be found on the second page of the pattern (note that these measurements only apply if the correct gauge is maintained throughout).

    The jumper is knitted using one strand of DK-/Aran-weight yarn and then one (or two) strand(s) of Lace-weight yarn.

    • Approx amounts of Yarn A (DK-/Aran-weight yarn): 100 (100) 100 (100) 150 (150) 150 (200) 200g of Wool and the Gang Sugar Baby Alpaca, 50g/116m.
    • Approx amounts of Yarn B (Lace-weight yarn): 25 (25) 25 (25) 25 (50) 50 (75) 75g of  Drops Design Kid Silk, 25g/210m.
    • If you choose to use two strands of Lace-weight yarn, you will need 50 (50) 50 (50) 50 (50) 50 (75) 75g of Drops Design Kid Silk, 25g/210m.

    Suggested Needles:

    • 6mm [US 10] circular needles (40-60cm/16-24" in length)
    • 10mm [US 15] circular needles (40-80cm/16-40" in length)

    Extra Tools: Stitch markers, stitch holders or extra yarn, tape measure, scissors, and a tapestry needle (for weaving in ends).

    Gauge (after blocking):

    • In twisted rib stitch on 6mm [US 10] needles with DK-/Aran-weight yarn: 20 sts / 15 rows = 10 x 10cm [4 x 4"].
    • In stockinette stitch on 10mm [US 15] needles with DK-/Aran-weight yarn: 10 sts / 14 rows = 10 x 10cm [4 x 4"].
    • In stockinette stitch on 10mm US 15 needles with Lace-weight yarn: 14 sts / 10 rows = 10 x 10cm [4 x 4"].
