    The Armour Top is a versatile spin on the classic ribbed top. There are multiple ways to work this pattern, making it wearable throughout the seasons. It is knitted top-down in an overall 2x2 rib stitch with double-knit armhole edges to finish. 

    Skill Level: Intermediate

    Required Techniques: stretchy cast on, backwards loop cast on, knitting in the round, knitting flat, 2x2 rib, increasing, decreasing, double-knitting, German short rows, picking up stitches and binding off.

    Suggested Needles:

    • 3.5mm [US 4] circular needles (40cm, 60cm or 80cm in length)
    • 4.5mm [US 7] circular needles (40cm, 60cm or 80cm in length) (go up or down in needle size to achieve gauge)

    Extra Tools: Tapestry needle (to weave in ends), tape measure, scissors, and stitch markers.

    Gauge (after blocking):

    • In 2x2 rib stitch [stretched] (using 4.5mm [US 7] needles): 22 sts / 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches].
    • In 2x2 rib stitch [un-stretched] (using 4.5mm [US 7] needles): 30 sts / 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches].

    Materials:

    Work the top using one strand of any DK Weight yarn (8ply - 11wpi)
